Hi all, Can anyone help me?, I am trying to replace my alternator on my 1.8 TDCI 2006 Focus, and it seems a little tight, has anyone done this before and can anyone give me some help as I am guessing I need to remove something to get it out. Many Thanks in advance Brett
The larger alternator on the TDCi makes the problem worse. When you slow the engine speed when driving or when you switch the engine off the clutch pulley works like a ratchet and let's the alternator spin without spinning its pulley, a bit like on a pedal bike when you stop peddling but keep rolling. I'm convinced its why the Mk3 eats tensioners.
