Super sharp lens. This Canon EF 100mm 2.8 L portrait lens is exceptionally sharp. Because of its wide focusing range in take a little time to lock focus but in not a problem. It is an excellent close up lens and a great portrait lens as well. It's fairly compact but does sport a super large lens hood that can be annoying.
